Aetna Therapy Coverage
Skycloud helps Aetna members navigate their benefits, verify coverage, and access flexible outpatient programs, family therapy, dual diagnosis treatment, and medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders.
Aetna offers health insurance to over 40 million customers. Their healthcare network includes over 1.2 million professionals throughout the West Coast. If you have an Aetna policy, it is important to understand what benefits you can apply to the cost of mental health treatment.
The Aetna addiction treatment coverage or Aetna therapy coverage you have is based on things like:
- Whether you work with an in-network psychiatrist or not
- The coverage you have
- The level of care you receive for addiction treatment
- The length of your treatment program
The fastest and easiest way to determine whether you have coverage with a particular institution is to call. With Skycloud, our team is ready to help you verify your benefits with Aetna and figure out any anticipated out-of-pocket costs for treatment.
Aetna Addiction Treatment Coverage
Aetna has many screening programs offered through your primary care physician, including access to addiction screening and mental health screening. The purpose behind these regular screenings is to determine when you need to get help and to make sure that you have access to qualified psychiatrists and therapists.
If you are worried that you might need treatment, you can always reach out to your primary care physician for a screening or referral, even if you don’t have one yet.
Those in need of help are more likely to get it if it is affordable, and that affordability comes down to picking an in-network provider that already has a price list for services. This makes it much easier for your insurance to approve the claims that are submitted and easier for you to get treatment.
Aetna Mental Health Coverage
Aetna, like all health insurance providers, is legally required to give you coverage for mental health services. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other conditions, you can reach out to Skycloud to start your in-person or virtual therapy program and use some of your benefits to cover the cost of outpatient mental health treatment.
Levels of Care With Aetna
Aetna offers multiple levels of insurance plans, and each of these determines what level of care gets covered by your policy.
Detox
If you are struggling with addiction and looking into your Aetna addiction treatment coverage, most plans will help cover the cost of detox, especially if you use MAT programs for opioid addiction, like our outpatient MAT program with suboxone for opioid addiction.
Inpatient
Aetna generally covers short inpatient programs in 30-day increments, but after 30 days, it requires policyholders to pay out of pocket.
Outpatient
Aetna will also cover some or all of the cost for an outpatient program like those at Skycloud. Depending on the policy you have, you can get coverage for several months of outpatient treatment. As part of our outpatient programs, you can choose a schedule that works best for you, picking individual, group, and family therapy sessions that are conducted in-person or online, both of which are covered by insurance.
Aetna Therapy Coverage
Aetna offers coverage for many parts of treatment for mental health or substance use disorders, such as therapy. Therapy for mental health and addiction is sometimes covered in its entirety if it is an approved, evidence-based psychotherapy. Many holistic treatments, like meditation or yoga, are not covered by insurance.
At Skycloud, we specialize in evidence-based practices, particularly things like dialectical behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, both of which are approved by Aetna.
Aetna plans give you options for virtual primary care as well as virtual mental health care. By choosing virtual therapy or in-person therapy, you can apply the same benefits through your existing health insurance plan.
Medication
Aetna insurance plans also offer some coverage for medication. Depending on the mental health disorder with which you struggle or the substance use disorder, you might need prescription medications to help you with ongoing symptom management. Medications required for a diagnosed mental health condition have to be covered by your insurance, no matter the level of program or plan you have.
With Skycloud, we provide medication management services to help you get the right prescriptions for managing symptoms of a mental health disorder or managing your recovery from substance abuse.
If you are participating in our in-person programs, our licensed psychiatrist will provide prescriptions for the best recommendations using things like GeneSight Testing. If instead you are participating in one of our virtual outpatient programs, our psychiatrist will still provide virtual evaluations and have your prescription medications sent to a nearby pharmacy.
The follow-up sessions as part of your management for addiction or mental health medications are conducted both in person and online, depending on the outpatient program you choose.
Length of Rehab Treatment Covered by Aetna
Aetna will cover approved addiction treatment plans with up to 6 weeks for inpatient care or up to 12 weeks for outpatient care. With Skycloud, many of our outpatient programs that use things like cognitive behavioral therapy can average a length of 12 weeks.
